You can always carry openly, which is something I've done myself in Vegas several times due to Nevada's crappy reciprocity. The LVPD is much more well-versed in its legality since c. 2005 when I started OCing there on visits and their laws have gotten even better recently, but I never even had a problem with anyone back in the day before that. You just won't get away with it in a casino, trust me :anamatedbanana

Well, if you ever see Vegas in your future again, you can get an AZ CWP to carry there.

Easy to get, all you need to do is call the Arizona CWP office and request an application. Include a copy of your TX CHL as proof of training, get your prints done, fill out the app, get a money order for $60, and send it all back in the envelope they provide. You'll get your CWP in 7-10 days.

question - with the AZ CWP, can i carry in places like casinos, or does the same 'common sense' approach that TX uses apply in Vegas as well?

by common sense, i mean bars, sporting events, etc...

thanks! headed there end of sept and really dont want to go unarmed.

Mailed my application off to the AZ DPS a couple of weeks ago. After hearing all the positive things about their fast turnaround, I was starting to wonder about not hearing anything yet. Emailed them, and got a response back w/in the hour: they have a 3 week backlog just entering applications into their system. Mine's still sitting on a shelf!

I guess the positive word of mouth has given them a lot of new business. Oh, and they said they make no distinction between resident and non-resident CHLs. I thought that was interesting!

well, after doing some online research - i dont think this is correct.

it appears that, as of 2001, NO out of state CCW permits are honored in Nevada. i'm still looking for something that states otherwise, but havent found it yet.

I think you meant to post this. The link you posted shows what states do/do not accept Nevada's permit.

Well... I respectfully submit that you're the one that's got it backward. The Nevada page lists the *other* state's CHLs which *Nevada* accepts.

But, hey, I think I was wrong, once... turns out I was mistaken.
