Noob in DFW!

Post by saintfunk »

Got my plastic on Saturday and have been carrying all week. I'm using IWB at 4 o'clock with my SR40C and seems to work fine. I'm having a little trouble determining how to carry my SP101 though....holster, no holster, pocket, IWB or OWB. Any advice from the "veterans"?

SP101 is a tough puppy to carry in a pocket. If you are really serious about pocket carry then I suggest you look at a lightweight J-frame Smith +P.

After the initial excitement calms down, you begin to realise this is a lifetime commitment. Stay safe, stay armed and make smart choices.

Thanks for the welcome and info guys! Right now I have the SP101 on at 4 o'clock in a Desantis speed scabbard and seems to be working well. Got to carry around a LEO for the first time at lunch......if he noticed it, he didn't say anything. I think I may need to buy xxl polos for work though, they're just a bit snug around my pistol. Albeit just a lump, so I'm not printing unless I move in certain directions.

Good!
BTW there is no Law against printing......
Could be a PDA, Cell Phone, Heart Monitor, Oxygen Supply, whatever.....

As long as it is not discernible as a gun (actually seen as a gun) you are not in violation of anything. It is wise though to minimize the bulge as much as you can comfortably so that smart BG's don't have any clue that you MIGHT be armed.

There are not that many smart BG's, but it only takes one to get the drop on ya!

The general public will not notice anything. Some of us CHL's like to look around to see if we can "MAKE" someone, but that is hit and miss too....

Just make sure that whatever cover garment you use is long enough to keep the gun covered when you bend over and/or reach up to a top shelf in your activities.

I love my SP101 .357. I can carry all day in a leather Glaco OWB at 4:00. With the right belt, it snugs up real tight and comfy with no wobble. I can pocket it when needed to go out for quick trips, etc. Holster is preferable. :clapping:

Think of it as a rite of passage or a complete test, your choice. If you have a problem, now is the time to find it.
If you frequent Wal-Mart, you understand that almost nothing you can do would be noticed there by the "normal" customers.

The main idea after getting your plastic is to go someplace and get over the nervousness that we all have initially.
