Newb from Houston

Post by sxd45 »

Hello all, new here and looking forward to doing some learning. I have been shooting since I was a kid and finally decided to take the plunge and get my chl. I have a question though as it has me rather worried, I took my class today with Tom Estep (BTW it was a great class) and he said to me that I needed to make sure I listed all arrests and it got me thinking and back about 9 years ago I had a failure to appear for a traffic ticket and a warrant was issued, I got pulled over and went to jail for about 10 hours and then went before the judge and set up a payment plan. I did not list this when I filed for my chl and now I am worried that it may come back and bite me. Is there a way I can go in and add this information? Sorry for the long read but I am nervous about getting denied.

If you have already submitted your application, I do not think you can go back and add it.
What will happen, if the DPS sees it (and if they have an issue with it) is they will send you a letter asking for more information.
Then you need to explain the arrest and send proof of disposition.
So you should probably already be working on getting the proof. Get with the county clerk of where ever you would arrested at, and get a copy of the disposition.
Not listing this will not disqualify you, but it could delay you.

If you were not photographed and fingerprinted, you do not need to worry about listing it.

For Class C Misdemeanor traffic tickets, most times you just get a free ride so that you can pay the fine, but are not actually "arrested" for DPS purposes.

Thanks guys, I never had fingerprints done or pictures taken. They held me there until court and sent me on my way with a payment plan with a big part of the fines dropped. I will figure out when exactly it happened just in case though.
