Tactical Knife with a light?

Post by terryg »

I am kind of intrigued by the idea of a tactical knife / light combo. So far, I haven't found a lot of options. But I did run across this:

Does anybody have any experience with this or a similar item?

I've competed in a few IDPA matches where you need to stab with your knife prior to shooting, so I'll make this short. Unless you plan to practice folding out and using a folding blade knife at very close quarters, go with a fixed blade knife with the maximum blade length possible for state or local law for close quarters work. Just my $0.02.

I understand mounting a light on a pistol or carbine to positively identify the target before shooting. I don't see a similar need for a knife mounted light, but YMMV.

For people who do have weapon lights, I encourage another flashlight that's not mounted on the weapon, so you don't have to point your gun at evertrhing you want to light up. Like the other driver's license and insurance card.

I don't want or expect the light to serve any tactical purpose ... the thought is consolidation. Carry one extra item and get both a light and a knife. I guess the flaw is that this particulr knife isnt really 'tactical'. It's more of a utility knife with a light.
