NRA certified instructors get a nice deal on insurance through the NRA, even when they are teaching non-NRA classes.

Yes, I got NRA certified primarily so I could get the insurance. $150 a year and it not only covers me, but I get to put the range I use mostly as a secondary coverage...IOW they will also cover the range for liability. You can then add other rangers for another $25.

There is one NRA instructor course you can take online, Refuse To Be A Victim. A useful course in and of itself and you will be able to use info from it in your CHL classes.

Don't forget too that the state gives you some degree of immunity as an instructor. I was surprised they didn't mention that in class, but they didn't in mine.
Also, have everyone to sign a waiver releasing you and the range you use of any and all liability.
