About to Get in trouble with the Wife
I've been obsessing about reloading shotshells for the past couple of weeks so I've been scouring ebay for a used mec loader that's in good shape that the seller isn't too proud of. " Yeah I know, never end a sentence in a preposition but, this is Texas. I finally found a pre 85 MEC 600 jr for $75 plus $18 shipping. Everything is complete and from the pictures it was not heavily used. Now all I have to figure out is how to tell the better half while making sure she's not between me and the front door.

My favorite excuse is, " It will save MONEY in a long run AND it gives you some free time away from me while I reload".
If that does not work, have it sent to a friends house :-)
Naaa..My wife is pretty good about the whole reloading/Gun thing....( Just in case) I promised to protect her when all Hel& breaks out with all my toys

I bought my wife a new I-pad for Christmas and now she's into it soo deeep I could be shooting 22cal targets in the living room and she wouldn't notice. Never in my wildest imaginings would I have thought it would work out so well.

Re: About to Get in trouble with the Wife
Well I let her know last night. First words out of her mouth were we don't need to be spending money on things we don't need. Second words were "Will I guess I'm getting those scarves I saw on the Chicago Art Institute website". My take on this is be prepared for the consequences on one's actions so this came as no surprise. The point is I got my shotshell reloader.
What she doesn't know yet is I NEED to get the conversion kit so I will be able to load 3 inch shell also. Bwa haha

You should not need a conversion kit to go from 2 3/4 to 3"shells.SC1903A3 wrote:Well I let her know last night. Unless your doing something else?
You can buy a "short kit" so that you have it setup for 3" and add a spacer to load 2 3/4" shells without adjustments ( if you go from one brand or type shell to another, you will need some adjustment maybe in most cases like Rem, to Win hulls ) I do not use one of the short kits, but my friend has one on a Mec 600jr - 410 reloading...
Go to Mec's website and download the manual for your year loader, look under Discontinued models.

Yeah, my wife downloaded the whole Apple presentation to watch on her I-Pad last night and was gushing about the new I-Pad 3 from then until bed time. Hummm..... I'm thinking maybe a new Glock 26 and a Dillon Case Feeder might be a really good buy RSN (real soon now).papajohn1964 wrote:I think we married sisters. My wife is always on her iPad. Looks like you are getting off cheap. My compromise usually involves coal that has been put under heavy pressure.Gyrogearhead wrote:I bought my wife a new I-pad for Christmas and now she's into it soo deeep I could be shooting 22cal targets in the living room and she wouldn't notice. Re: About to Get in trouble with the Wife
Yeah, I used to have to give her a lump of coal every once in awhile just to keep things running smoothly but lately I've been able to wean her off the glittery stuff a little. A nice bouquet of flowers and dinner at an up-scale restaurant, although done more frequently, seems to work about as well and is cheaper in the long run. She used to be foaming-at-the-mouth-anti-gun but maybe with a few more "educational" outings with fellow gun enthusiasts and maybe she'll be ready for a new Glock for Mother's Day. ( It helps that our #1 grandson can't wait until next year when he turns 21 to get his CHL.)i8godzilla wrote:Looks like you are getting off cheap. Re: About to Get in trouble with the Wife
The loader was sitting on my porch yesterday when I got home. It was unpacked and inspected. The only things missing were the drop tube and promer catcher so I went to the MEC website to order. While I was there I went ahead and orderd a spare wad guide. With shipping it came to $11.50 . The charge bar was a 1 1/4 oz shot bar with a #29 powder bushing. Since I was looking to go with lighter loadsI looked at different shot bars which were $21 each and I figured I would need 5 more powder bushings which ar $3 to $6 each depending on where you get them. That dosen't facture in shipping for the shot bar and bushings. Then I found the Multiscale universal charge bar that met all my needs for loading any shot powder combination for $39.99 plus $10 shipping. So here's my total investment with the cost of shipping rolled in to the costs.
Used MEC 600 Jr from Ebay = $93.50
MEC parts = $11.50
Multiscale UCB =$48.95
Total =$153.95
Thats still cheaper than a brand new MEC 600 JR Mk V which comes with one shot bar and 3 powder bushings. And my wife says I don't know how to shop.

So you're hoping to start giving lead instead of coal?Gyrogearhead wrote:Yeah, I used to have to give her a lump of coal every once in awhile just to keep things running smoothly but lately I've been able to wean her off the glittery stuff a little. Yeah, Last month when I was smelting wheel weights in the driveway she actually came out to look over the operation. Maybe she'll get interested in getting her own lead soon. One can always hope!sjfcontrol wrote:So you're hoping to start giving lead instead of coal?Gyrogearhead wrote:Yeah, I used to have to give her a lump of coal every once in awhile just to keep things running smoothly but lately I've been able to wean her off the glittery stuff a little.
