Great find...!!
Now ya got something to add to your pure or almost pure lead to make some nice bullet lead.
That's where that BHN tester I mentioned a while back would come in handy..

The reason I was looking into getting the BHN tester was, about a few years ago I bought a few box's from an estate sale that had a bunch of reloading stuff in them. In the box were 4 bars of Babbitt.
I just thought it was the real hard stuff with copper mixed in, but a few months after that I looked at them and they had a number stamped in them. After some research on the inet, I found out that they were lead based babbitt that was pretty hard and would work nice mixed with pure lead. As per the metallurgist I talked to. He gave me a mix ratio he thought would work well for bullets.

This guy helped me out too, plus he has a very nice lead thermometer he sells, suppose to be Lad Grade???

One day when I feel like playing with my lead bars, I'll mix some up and try it out if I don't loose my hard drive AGAIN and loose my info...BACKUPS??? What are they???? ;-)

Good luck and have fun with you new toys.

That's the Tel-Tru thermometer - can find them cheaper elsewhere.
Hmmm...If you think about it, let me know where?
I was thinking about buying one at some point, I'm not sure about this Lyman one I have.
Although it's ok I think ? Not that big of a deal being several deg's off I guess....Wish I could afford one of the digital laser ones that go to 1000f. But also not sure if surface temp is good enough for melted metals?

Too many questions in this game....... :cryin

Yes. 'Tis sad. Nearing an end of an era, we are.

But at least the type will be going to a good cause and new purpose...
