Should i buy a AR in 9mm
I have been looking for a 9mm carbine to purchase and have looked around. Is the bushmaster corbon 9mm worth buying. They are asking 739 for it. I have tried to find similar rifles but no dice. Otherwise I have looked and shot a Jr carbine it was pretty nice. Looked at the sterling smg. The things I really want it to have are a threaded barrel and the ability to mount different optics.

They are fun. I just got rid of mine because I needed the money and the least practical gun went first. I would say it is a great gun if you have a .556 first.
Make sure you get the correct hammer. Also get a good magwell-to-mag-match

Just a thought if i bought the one in 9mm could I always go to .223?

This one is featured in Gun Test magazine this month. They give it an A rating.

YMMV, of course. We have a 9mm AR SBR and it is great fun. The one we have (RRA) has a dedicated 9mm lower and it not convertible.

technically yes. note the hammer can be different, the magwell is hard to get in and out of the lower, and the buffer is differentOrangeAnimal wrote:Just a thought if i bought the one in 9mm could I always go to .223?

Spend your money on a glock 17 with 33rd magazines. More versatile IMO. Good for bug out bag and concealment. Easily Portable, concealable firepower. But my use maybe different than yours.

Re: Should i buy a AR in 9mm
I like 9mm carbines so much I just bought another one today (a Beretta CX4).
My go-to fun rifle has been a Colt 6450 9mm carbine. It was a little pricey, but is much fun to shoot. I have a couple .223s and a .308 AR (Bushy, Sig and a DPMS), but for shooting metal or pests (100 yds would be a stretch) on the ranch, I usually grab the 9mm Colt. It's also my secondary house gun as I know I can rely on it.
The Colt is an A2 however, and you may want a flat top. Olympic, RRA and probably a few others make them. But I bet you'd have to order one as I never see them in stores and rarely online.

Well is 739 a good price for the composite bushmaster or should I keep looking. I did check, out the Thureon defense. It does look very nice. I also like the fact that they come chambered in. 40 my edc is a 40. I still look at the 9 cause the ammo is cheaper. From what I have ead it seems like either is a fun gun to have and plenty for my purpose. I am not going hunting with it and if I can accurately reach out to fifty yards thats plenty. The sole purpose of this gun is range fun and personal defense. Lightweight large capacity mags and portability are important.

Have you considered a keltec sub2000 then? Folds down to 16 inches, very light and takes 33 round glock magazines.OrangeAnimal wrote:Well is 739 a good price for the composite bushmaster or should I keep looking. I googled my usual online dealers and could not find one available at a better deal than $739. One (cannot remember which now) listed a price of $719, but didn't have any in stock.

Yeah I haven't found a better deal either. I thought about the kel tec. Just not convinced it will hold up and it seems that the parts are more readily available for the ar platform.

Re: Should i buy a AR in 9mm
I've got over 1200 rounds through my Kel-Tec with no malfunctions. I'm a huge fan, and I think it is a great K.I.S.S. carbine. The price can't be beat (if you can find one), and it shares mags with my Glock. Search my posts and you will find a bunch more info on it. I'm pobably the most ardent Sub2K supporter on this forum...

Re: Should i buy a AR in 9mm
I would get the MP-5 clones before I got a 9mm AR. I would also opt for a .22LR over 9mm for a fun gun.
