Well my board interview is Thursday...
After filling out over 100 pages of application/information... HR-9, HR-13, HR-14, HR-15.
After having survived the investigation of my past.
After waiting for almost as long as I waited for my CHL from the DPS.
I finally have my board interview with the DPS on Thursday morning.
With the blessing from the Good LORD above, I'll soon be embarking upon a new career and after being in the car business since 1972 I'll finally be out of a dealership!
Pray for me, fellow CHL'ers, that this is God's will for me!
Thanks
Russ

First, my entry level will be in communications with (I hope) an up grade to a position with the Governor's Division of Emergency Management which falls under the umbrella of the Department of Public Safety.
This is a liaision from the department to other government entities as well as with individual volunteer agencies and the various utilities. In other words I'll be a part of the command staff during an Incident Command Event, not one of the grunts.
But, it will require a TCLOSE (did I get that right TXI?) and (I guess) it will eventually be a commissioned LEO, but not required to be hired... just within the first 12 months of hire, along with various FEMA certs (of which I already have 2) and a few other things... such as a nuclear endorcement and an FCC Amateur license. Of course, I already have the radio license.
This is something that I've been doing since 1992, but not getting paid for it. Hopefully, now I will.

Re: Well my board interview is Thursday...
here's my advice, take it for what it's worth. in the interview, keep your mouth shut. there will probably be 6 or 7 troopers in there interviewing you. they will ask you a question, then all look at you. say what you have to say, then look back at them. do not elaborate, and don't try to fill in the silence with talk.
and don't pop off at some old fart in the parking lot. trust me, he is well connected, and you will not hear the end of it in the interview.
i went for mine in march of 2000, and they gave me the offer in august. so if you don't hear anything for a while, just give it some time. they called me about a week before the academy started, and told me to get down to austin to do the psych, medical, etc. after having some time to think on it between then and the interview, i got down to austin and decided i didn't want to move anywhere in TX. i like where i'm at. as long as you don't have any ties to any place in particular, you'll be good to go.
