Ruger SR556 or SR556C?

Finally getting an AR decided on Rugers' Ive got 4 pistols from them no issues.
i was looking at at models there is standard and there is carbine.
and the only difference i could find was C has a fluted barrel and standard does not,
this isn't going to be an all the time shooter, I'll only break it out when we go to a friends 'ranch' and shoot some stuff with it.
cheaper than dirt has standard in stock now, not the carbine,
what i could read fluted helps with cooling and accuracy, but with as little as i am going to be shooting it, is it something i should be worried about?
same price between both if its just a hairs difference im not to worried about it but i don't know ARs.

wait for the carbine or go ahead and get the standard?

any suggestions or info would be greatly appreciated

I had the standard, sold it only because it and my FS2000 filled the same role. I prefered the FS2000 so its the one I kept. I would consider the Carbine version, but if I were to get another SR-556 I would probably go with the Light weight carbine model SR-556CLA. The only thing I don't care for on the C and CLA version is that the flash supressor is intergral, other than that I like all of them.

Why set on Ruger? Lots of excellent AR manufacturers to choose from. Fluting will not do a ton for you, except for weight savings.

I am not a soldier, so I have no practical experience in this area. I believe that, inherently, a solid barrel has more capability for accuracy. As far as I know fluting might help with accuracy if you were in a prolonged fire fight where the barrel didn't have the time to cool down. So unless you're fighting enemy soldiers in the Mideast or waves of attacking zombies at long range, it's not a factor in accuracy that should concern you.

Reason I'm set on ruger is I like the brand
It a name I trust price I can live with
And I like the logo

Think ill go with the standard when I save up for it
