LE6920 finally arrived

Post by gigag04 »

A few months ago I ordered a Colt LE6920 through a program at work. It arrived today, in box, and all sealed up. It's nice being the first person to handle a rifle (like not off the shelf and sold at a store).

Already had purchased a Daniel Defense 12" modular rail that I put on today. I intended on shaving the FSB down as I feel it is more solid, but ended just throwing on a Troy low profile gas block.

Policy(and common sense) requires we have BUIS, so I'm going to run a pair of MBUS2s, but I really want flip up offset ones. They are just too pricey for something I don't really plan on using much.

Noveske sling plate also went on today.

With the rifle, I ordered a Leupold CQT, but its not in yet. I will post pics later this weekend as I get it sorted - I'm at work now.

That CQT looks sweet. Some of that's going to have to come out of your pocket, though, right? IIRC, you had said that the department was going to reimburse up to $2k and this setup looks like a bit over that.

I run offset irons on a set of DD offset mounts and Magpul BUS2. Also, for the $$ these might be worth a shot

Didn't happen without pictures.

I pay for all of it - the dept buys the kit and deducts it across 26 paychecks.

I'm ready for the CQT to come in.

Pics coming soon. Promise. I'm still sitting in a patrol car thanks to the stupid time change.

I may get the DD offsets. I really want flip up offsets to stay out of the way when not in use since this optic can be run magnified.

My ideal sight would be offset, flip up, polymer, and follow the features of the Paul Howe CSAT tritium sights.

Pic - it's lame but on a time crunch today:
Image

Pictured with a Larue FUG I had lying around. This coming week I am in Philly (yuck) but when I get back, I should have the BUIS, and a QD swivel receiver that I get to fab into the rail to add. No word on when the CQT comes in but I can't wait.

I'm ready to slather some 10W30 on it and go shoot, probably can't until next weekend. I also want to swap the FUG for an AFG, as it better shoots my long gun handling style now. I'll be looking for a new pistol grip and trigger guard for stronger one hand operation in close (more vertical A LA BCM gunfighter or Magpul MIAD), and gloved hands as I like to run batting gloves in class and on hot calls

How 'bout them Texans....

Looks good. Any idea where her weight is running yet? What do you think she'll top out at?

That is the ultimate question...
I think I've seen the rail spec out at 10oz. I could go lighter with a shorter rail, but it doesn't suit how I like to grip the forward end of a long gun (palm around the handguard/rail, fingers around bottom, thumb up and around top). Once I get the sights on, and hopefully optic soon, I'll have a number for you.

I'd like to keep EVERYTHING (sling, ammo, optic, weapon) under 8lbs. I think that will be a stretch, but it bears consideration. Going to a pencil barrel would free a few ounces, but then I would be better off not messing with the 6920 and just getting an upper built how I want from BCM, Noveske, or DD.

Glass in and on:

Custom install work for sling swivel on the MFR so a two point sling runs well now without the bulk of a railed attachment point:

It is at least ready to go now. Still have to get an AFG2, and possibly going to make a tape switch panel out of an old rail cover piece. Should have it sighted in in the next few days...I hope. Also looking to mount the CQT in a Larue mount. The Leupold one leaves much to be desired.

if you want to save a little weight, skip the AFG2 and try this first (I put this on mine and like it better than AFG) - but of course, YMMV
