"Printing" in the Car

If stopped by police, would carrying your pistol in its case be "printing"? For example, if I had my Springfield in its case setting on the passenger's seat and on the outside is printed XDM, would a policeman say it is obvious I have a weapon and therefore it is not "really" concealed? Thanks.

on person, in glove box or center console. i would not carry a gun marked in a box that said gun here... thats just me

1. "Printing" is not illegal. Period.

2. "Intentional failure to conceal" is illegal, unless......you are drawing the weapon to use it in self-defense.

3. Carrying a pistol in its case does not constitute intentional failure to conceal. If it were not so, then you broke the law on every trip to the range you ever made with a pistol.

4. Whether or not a pistol case, clearly identifiable as such, left on the seat next to you is a wise idea......only you can decide that. Personally, I put any guns I'm not carrying concealed on my person (or in my "manbag") in the back of my SUV, along with the ammo, etc.

What if the case were empty? Then it becomes just that, an empty case. Is it still obvious that you have a unconcealed weapon? The weapon could be concealed on your side. If the weapon itself is out of plain view, I can't see how you would be guilty of a unconcealed firearm.

There is nothing in Texas law in regards to firearms that talks about "printing". It talks about intentional failure to conceal. I think that a case marked with the emblem of the firearm or manufacturer is more of an invitation to thieves than anything.

if I had a Ruger, S&W, Kimber, etc., decal stuck on the window of my truck, and had any one of those models in my glove box, would I be "printing"? would I care?

what if you need it? Seems like opening the case would take longer than most ways I carry.

I often use my gun cases to carry other things, my XD case is just the right size for a set of harmonicas, and besides, the gun case looks more macho than a man purse.
