Bataan Death March

Post by DSARGE »

Going to the Bataan Memorial Death March in Las Cruces in a couple of weeks. I somewhat understand the alcohol rule (if it's sold period, you can't carry), and I won't be carrying on post as I will leave it in the motel. Is there any tips ya'll could give? Thanks! :?:

Alcohol Rule ...

Post by TraCoun »

DSARGE,
Some CHL Instructors or attorneys might want to chime it, but my understanding of the alcohol rule is that the place has to get 51% or more of its income from sales for ON PREMISES CONSUMPTION. The fact that alcohol is sold is NOT automatically a block.
Thanx,

In Texas, yes. But Las Cruces is in New Mexico, and in NM you can't carry any place alcohol is sold. However, and this is according to a gun shop owner in Las Cruces, all you have to do to be legal is unload & keep the ammo/magazine separate. I tuck mine in the car whenever we go to dinner with the folks in any restaurant with a wine list, since I don't want to push my luck.

Also, at WSMR there are no guns allowed in, period, unless you actually live on base and you register your firearms with the MPs. (I love visiting my dad, but for obvious reasons we prefer meeting in 'Cruces instead of on post.)

You might want to contact Custom Cartridge directly (the store in 'Cruces) & see if they can give you more/better info. Phone is 505-523-7900.

All guns have at least two safeties. One's digital, one's cognitive. In other words - keep the digit off the trigger until ready to fire, and THINK. Some guns also have mechanical safeties on top of those. But if the first two don't work, the mechanical ones aren't guaranteed. - me

I guess I should have mentioned Las Cruces, NM in my original post! Thanks for the inputs! I am staying in a Motel downtown just so I can carry--as opposed to WSMR. I will check out the gun store since you mentioned it, and check with the owner. Thanks again for pointing me in the right direction.
