Places to avoid in Houston

I just applied for a Sys Admin position in Houston. I'm planning that if I do get the job, I would live in my RV when working and go home to the Corpus area on my weekends.

If you wouldn't mind helping me out, I've a couple of questions:
1. What area (or areas) wild ou recommend I avoid looking for a place to stay?
2. Do you know of a good, inexpensive RV park to stay long term?

I'm thinking of taking the trailer up and parking it. Afterwards I'd ride the bike back and forth.

My uncle stays in the park at 99 and 59s next to greatwood in sugar land when he does some work in the houston area. It seems like a nice place and he wouldn't put up with a nasty place.

Plus it is n the corpus side of houston so it's less travel than staying say in the woodlands or something .

Years ago when I worked a lot in Houston I stayed in a Travelodge at Koomey Rd. and I-10 near Katy. There was a RV park right next door on top of the hill. I always thought it looked like a nice place to park an RV. I often thought about doing what you're considering since I was living in San Antonio at the time. Have fun....

Some areas such as 3rd / 5th ward, Sunnyside, Greenspoint, and Acres Homes are best visited in daylight hours. Overall Houston is not as bad as some would have you believe. As far as RV parks, they seem to be everywhere so finding one shouldn't be a problem either.

My wife and I live in our RV in the Marina Bay RV Resort in Kemah. It is full and expensive but convenient.

A coworker recently joined the fulltimer ranks and said there are quite a few new reorts all over town but I don't know where. A google search might be productive. The new resorts from what I see are typically in better areas. The one we are in is well managed and they clamp down big time on the rule breakers. Well, except for the occasional person who leaves dog poo.

I am in my RV 3 days a week, do not receive any mail here so I list my job on the application and use my home/mailing address for chl

I have a "stick and brick" house that I claim as my residence. I'll use my RV as a place to lay my head while working out of town. Won't receive any mail at the RV park, unless its some sort of suprise for the wife.
