tactical class and hard to find ammo

I would like to do another class, but at the rate ammo is going for at the shows and all the 1 box per person hoopla should I wait 3-6 months. The last class i did in oklahoma at us shooting academy was a blast and a lot of good info, but throwing 400 to 1200 rds down range right now is hard on the pocket book. In our area 9mm and 223/556 ammo is nowhere to be found and if you do find a someone on the net trying to sell it, it will cost you a second mortgage on the old house. So is there anyone out there allowing people to use 22 or 22 conversions in classes.(22's are like golden eggs also cant find at your local stores) Thanks for any guidance. Have also thought about maybe a sniper style class figured it would be fun,learn alot and not use that much in the way of ammo.
