DHS purchases 2700 MRAPs

Post by Syntyr »

Okay I am not a conspiracy minded person and I have discounted the whole DHS buying up all of the ammo but if this is true... What does DHS need with 2700 Mine Resistant Armor Protected vehicles?

Just asking...

This trend is truly disturbing. What makes it really suspicious is the lack of commentary from either DHS or the government, justifying the purchases of stuff like this. Last night, I posted a thread about new technology that DHS is putting into its drones that will enable them to tell if a citizen is armed or not. Why does DHS need to know that?

Could be. I just stumbled upon it. I am trying to find out more info on if this is real or not. I see some of the comments are saying these are refits not new purchases. However, it is labels DHS and says "Police Rescue" on the side. I am just trying to figure out why the feds need 2700 of them??? It's not like they are going to be used to secure the border? hint hint hint

So far, this story seems more like the stories about the trains full of coffins. I tried a number of different search engines to see if there was any "legitimate" confirmation of the MRAP purchases. I could find none.

If true, it puts the threats of doubling the wait times at the airports as a result of the Sequester into a whole new light. The discussion about the 1B round ammo purchases would also take on a different perspective. I remain very suspicious of DHS but I'm equally suspicious of unverified internet stories.

I can see a need for those, but 2700 is a lot.

Where do you think all the money for this is coming from??? That and Air Traffic Controllers and teachers. Heck Maxine waters said 170 million jobs were lost on Friday so they should have plenty to pay for these :smilelol5:

I can see Coast Guard and Border Patrol maybe benefitting from knowing whether bad guy drug cartel smugglers are armed, but I'm not sure why DHS would need 2700 or so of those cool, but likely super expensive vehicles.

The MWRAPs are about a half a million each. Even if they're refurbed units, they've gotta be at least $250,000 each, so that's 3/4ths of a billion. Chump change in borrowed Chinese yen. :biggrinjester:
