Bifold Id holder - giveaway?
I wanted to ask what any folks think of carrying you DL and CHL in a bifold front pocket wallet.
I am young looking and my voice also seems to make people think i am younger, I turn 30 this year, but still get carded for tobacco. Sometimes i admit the clerk is just stupid, one would think a well groomed beard and five year old in tow would clue them in I just might be over 18. So anyway I do have to pull out my Id frequently.
has anyone ever had a problem from a clerk or "next in line " shopper spotting their CHL?
This sorta segways to another question: How have yall handled questions from people that either spot your ChL or make you for carrying, or even from a friendly CHL holder that lacks shall we say, discretion.
Im goin to go about with the plan that concealed means CONCEALED so i shouldnt run into either of these issues, but out of curiosity, I thought I'd pose the preceeding questions.
Thanks in advance.

My bi-fold has my CHL on one side and my CHL Badge on the other...
could not resist.
Most people are completely clueless about CHL stuff. The CHL looks like the Drivers License. I keep my DL and CHL together and I have to be careful not to hand over the CHL when asked for ID. I don't have a problem with looking too young. I keep getting offered the senior citizen discount. (I take it too.)
The only way someone will notice your gun is if it is completely revealed, and then they may just figure you are a Police Officer. It is very normal for a new CHL to feel like everyone is staring at him and his weapon is showing. That will go away with time. Carry away.

Re: Bifold Id holder - giveaway?
I keep my IDs in a bifold. I also keep a few business card just in the fold. So when I hand over the bifold to a sales clerk or someone like that, I hand it over with the business cards covering up my CHL but exposing my TDL. I've never had someone look at more than the TDL. After all, I'm standing right there and it would be REALLY rude to just browse through my stuff right in front of me. Nobody has been that bold yet.
BTW, several times when I've ordered apparel products from 5.11 Tactical, they have enclosed a free black cordura nylon bifold ID holder in the box. I've got two or three of them by now, in addition to the leather one I use daily.

Bifold with CHL behind DL that can be seen from the little window. Most times I don't have to take the DL out since it can be seen through the window. The very few times I have had to take it out I don't think anyone has seen the CHL behind it. If I'm carrying I have a cover garment and my wallet is in a breast pocket of the shirt or jacket so I don't have to reach behind and possibly expose the gun or ammo carrier.
I've been getting carded more lately when buying beer or rum. I'm almost 50 and do not look like I could pass for 25 anymore!

I am not and have never been a LEO. My avatar is in honor of my friend, Dallas Police Sargent Michael Smith, who was murdered along with four other officers in Dallas on 7.7.2016.

Am i the only one that doesn't worry that someone may see my CHL?
Shoot I have accidentally handed it over thinking it was my drivers license a time or two.

I could care less if anyone sees my CHL. Most folks haven't the foggiest idea what it is and those that do don't seem to worry too much about it.

Quit smoking, chewing, or whatever. It's bad for you. This is not an opinion. It's an established scientific fact. Probably you don't want your son to arrange your funeral at age 25, as I had to for my father.carrydave wrote:I am young looking and my voice also seems to make people think i am younger, I turn 30 this year, but still get carded for tobacco.
As for your question, about 2% of the population of Texas (some 300,000 people) would even know what a CHL is, and convenience store clerks have more urgent things to worry about.
Besides, having a CHL and carrying a concealed handgun are completely legal. It's not uncommon for people who got their CHL recently to be anxious (I was); but you will get over it.

You guys must be really young looking. I don't even get carded for senior coffee at McDonalds anymore.
I have a bi-fold I guess you call it, genuine imitation leather that hold D/L and CHLs in window slot, a couple of credit cards on the other side and membership and other cards in the inside. I buy them at car washes for $5-6 and they last for years.
I'd give up that tobacco, if I were you.
You'll save a fortune and live a lot longer. Smoker for ~20 years, quit 30 years ago, one lung surgery and now pulmonary fibrosis, unrelated to smoking.

Luckily, I have enough willpower to control the driving ambition that rages within me.

Re: Bifold Id holder - giveaway?
My CHL is inside a tyvek sleeve in a completely different place in my wallet. It is literally behind my NRA Life Member card.
My driver license is in a flip-out part of the wallet with a see-through plastic cover.
I've only have to show my CHL to a law enforcement officer twice in the last 10 years. Took an extra 10 seconds to get it out of the wallet.

jk!
thats great advice on quitting. I have been using the nicotine mints latley my doctor/boss tells me it eliminates the cancer risk, and I will quit those soon.
I still will partake in a fine cigar and distilled spirit a few times per year.
Ya i should quit worrying! My plan is just to have id in a front pocket wallet in my left front pocket(opposite from firearm).
you know I saw a badger the other day at the gym, but he had a badge i have never seen on forum pics.
It looked just like a texas ranger badge but had a colored texas flag in the center.
based on his sloppy phsyique and dress i assumed it was NOT a ranger, those rangers usually have perfect pressed khakis, white shirt, tan felt hat, and an ornate 1911.
