After Mr. Reid cancelled the vote, Mr. Bloomberg fumed and indicated the type of attack ads he would be funding leading up to the 2014 election. “This is just an up and down vote. Condone murder or don’t. It’s not any more complex than that,” he said.

Up and down vote, yes... Do you support the constitution, or not. It's not any more complex than that.

I do worry about what some angry dude with his kind of financial resources could do to the elections. Hopefully a Koch brother or somebody would step up and counteract anything too obvious.

No Koch brothers, just informed voters who support their candidate and turnout on election day. If the 2012 election cycle has proven anything, it's that apathy is the root cause of conservative woes not money spent, ask Karl Rove.
Good, principled women and men need to present themselves as candidates, constituents need to support them financially and at the polls. That Mr. Bloomberg is heavily supporting candidates financially should be a clarion call to any conservative or libertarian to stand for their principles and oppose such.
