What to do with old CHL when changing address?
Just a quick question...
Just received my replacement CHL with new address because of our recent move.
Ordered the replacement online and it only took a week to receive it.
Should I just destroy the CHL with the old address, or does it need to be returned to Austin ?
Thanks in advance.

I'm not sure on this but I believe our instructor told us that we had 30 days to return it to the state or we could face a fine or possibly lose our license. You might want to check it out before you destroy it and throw it away.

No need to return old CHL for a change of address. Only need to return old one for a modified license.jimtexas68 wrote:I'm not sure on this but I believe our instructor told us that we had 30 days to return it to the state or we could face a fine or possibly lose our license. A license holder may not possess more than one license to carry a concealed handgun issued by the department. A license holder who requests a duplicate license based on a change of name or address shall destroy the old license promptly upon receipt of the duplicate license.

I would put it in my dresser drawer. I think when you get a new drivers licence you are supposed to destroy the old one but I keep all of mine. It not like the FBI is going to break down your front door cause you didn't destroy your CHL.

Then you would be violating the CHL Administrative Rules. See three posts up from yours.nightmare69 wrote:I would put it in my dresser drawer.
