Colorado residents fed up with a law cracking down on gun ownership and a rule forcing residents to purchase costly renewable energy have a scheme to escape the new restrictions – create the nation’s 51st state of North Colorado.

I can't imaging it being successful at the state and federal levels. Unfortunately.

I don't see it happening, but it would be pretty awesome if they could pull it off. I wish them the best. :tiphat:

If I were them, I wouldn't ASK the current state of Colorado, I would TELL them. I would just state these counties are no longer paying taxes to any state other than ours. And apply for either territorial or statehood status with the U.S. Congress. West Virginia did not apply for separation from Virginia. They just did it.

Excellent idea, I think...
Weld doesn't excite me (Greeley) but if you add Larimer County... I'm in. (and Grand, Jackson and Routt and.... )

Ok.. Just cull out Boulder and Jefferson Counties (maybe Gilpin, Clear Creek and Summit.. Are there ANY eligible voters in Aspen anyways?) and call it "The Democratic People's Republic of Colorado" (DPRC).

ETA.... The people of NY should do the same thing ... downstate vs upstate. And Chicago should be cordoned off and set free to be its' own nation (I'm sure Canada wouldn't take it), IL would be the better for it.

Will happen when Wyoming defrosts ( which isn't too often). But I heard they have some kind of petition to recall politicians that voted in new gun laws. Better (but slim) chance with that.
