I have a couple of these and use them when we travel to our daughters' houses as they have small children. Lock securly and have pry resistant doors. Walmart has them for $39 with free shipping available. I just bought a couple more to give to my sons-in-law.

This is exactly what I use as my night-stand safe. It fits very well in the drawer and with a simple (to me) 4 digit pin, it's a quick open in case of need.

Yes the beep can be disabled. Also it uses a 3 or 4 digit combo plus * (asterisk) I use 3 numbers in a row for rapid opening. We also use them bedside when the grandchildren visit.

As long as you know what you are getting for $40 I don't see this as a problem. Just about any "safe" can be opened given the intruder has the time and determination.
As a device to keep little hands aware from a gun while you sleep - I think its a reasonable device. If you expect it to prevent a thief from stealing your gun or valuables, it is not a good solution.

I have to agree it would hardly prevent a thief from stealing your pistol or valuables, especially since they could just take the whole box instead of chipping away and drilling into the plastic and searching with a probe to find the solenoid. (it beats the beige Sentry box safes which just need to be dropped on the corner to fly open) I don't have any expectations the Stackon would prevent a theft. I have real gun safes to protect my guns and valuables. I don't think Stackon even catalogs the PDS-500 as a gunsafe and I would bet that California requires some minimal certification in case someone should decide to use it for one. It serves the purpose of reasonably quick access from a secure box for me at a reasonable price while I have little ones around. For the times the kids aren't around a thief only have to take my weapon off my nightstand. Hopefully I would be awakened by 4 barking dogs before that could happen
I posted it because $39 is a substantial discount especially with free shipping.

And I appreciate it! My comment was a response to the video psijac posted and not to your posting it. Thanks for posting a good deal!
Thanks for the post. I've been looking for a easy-access handgun safe.
Note, it's $39 at Amazon too.. With Prime, it ships for free, which saves me the trip to wally-world.
Probably buy 2, one for the car.

Amazon and Wally World must be competing! WalMart had a free shipping to home option so I got mine shipped to the house.

There is another method to open this without any tools at all and it takes seconds. I don't think I would use it and definitely do not recommend it. I do not sale safes, only open and repair them for a living. My opinion is they should not be allowed to be called safes. Instead, they should be called a locking cabinet.
