I filled out the renewal online, and then based on the email that I received from TX DPS, I scanned my CHL-100 and uploaded it to them via their website on July 15.
On the morning of July 16, I got a very nice email from TX DPS saying "We have received your documents and they have been forwarded to the appropriate processing department."
However, this morning, when I check status it still says its waiting for documents. Is this normal? How long does it typically take for them to update the status once they receive docs?
Thanks!

Over 30 days for me, YMMV.

If you got an electronic receipt, I wouldn't sweat nails over this. The on-line ifo can seem to languish for many days and then suddenly pop up and become lively. If nothing happens in two weeks, then call them, but I suspect it will be updated by then.
Re: How long for status to show?
I am going through the renewal process myself. From the day I mailed in my certificate of training paperwork, it took 3 weeks to show up on the site as received.

Got my new plastic today. Right at 14 working days from the time I sent in my paperwork until I got the plastic in hand. Couldn't have gone smoother.
