IWB HOLSTERS?????

Post by Target1911 »

Do they make any "in the belt" instead of IWB holsters?

I guess you could route your belt through the slots so that it goes outside the holster, instead of behind.

This would pull the firearm in tighter.

However, to me, the greatest benefit to IWB is the added concealment. I don't have to worry about the holster showing.

If this is what you are thinking, your holster would be as visible an any OWB.

However, if I take you literally, there is a product called the Beltster which has a holster built into the belt itself.

The are also many Yaqui Slide holsters that would work in the same fashion. Almost every holster maker offers one.

Here's the one from Galco:

Is this what you were thinking?

I know the holster would still show. I am currently waiting on my CHL. it will still be awhile till it gets here. However i have been carrying around the house to get used to the feel. I have a paddle holster for my 1911 but i just flops around and isn't very stable. Now, just to get used to the weight I have just been sliding my gun through my belt and putting the muzzle in my back pocket at about 4;30. I have found this to be very comfortable and i forget about it even being there. The weight of a full size steel frame Kimber is not an issue when i carry like this. However I do prefer a holster of some sort for extra retention purposes. And the worst thing about carrying like this is the fact that i will have get used putting my wallet in another pocket. I am right handed and i have always put it in my right rear pocket. I normally wear wanglers so putting a wallet in my front pocket is very uncomfortable for me. I have tried it before. I guess I could try routing the belt through the holster different. I do like how the belt pulls the gun in very close. I need all the help i can get with that since I am 6' and 165lbs.

Just bite the bullet, get an IWB and carry your wallet in your weak side pocket. It doesn't take long to get used to it, and you will have the added advantage of being able to pitch your wallet with your weak hand while maintaining the ability to perform a strong hand draw if, god forbid, you are ever "asked" for your money

I too changed pockets when I started carrying. It did not take very long to get used to it.

I once thought that moving my wallet to the left side back pocket might save me money since it would be more difficult for me to get the wallet out. It hasn't exactly worked out that way.

The Maverick sounds like what you are looking for.

I have one on order, since it seems to be very versatile. Can be worn between belt and pants, IWB and also crossdraw, since the cant is adjustable.

Kervn quotes 8 to 10 weeks lead time. From what I hear though, his products are well worth the wait.

I'm looking forward to getting mine.

If your only concern with the paddle style holser take a look a the Comp-Tac holsters. The paddle style have a bit of velcro on them and they seems to keep mine from sliding around. I have several holsters (count at about 12 right now) and some are IWB, Leather, Kydex and two I carry most frequently; the Comp-Tac mostly and a Fobus paddle the other. What I like about the Fobus is that the paddle has a soft rubber insert that keeps it from sliding around, it sticks to most clothing and like my tshirt tucked in side it and holds solid. I have like the paddle style better as it can be moved around the waste band independent of the beltloops and when you drive a sports car and holster right hand side it needs to be just perfect to sit between the seatbelt and the seat and at just short of 4 o'clock most pants have belt loops that interfere. Just my two cents.
