Reloading Quickly

Post by BrassMonkey »

I am having some trouble dropping my mags without adjusting my grip on the pistol. Is there a way to make the button or replacement button come back farther towards me? I'm talking a few mm here, nothing much. Would this type of mod be ok for IDPA in CDP?

Can't help you with IDPA regs, but here are a few styles of mag releases that Ed Brown offers.

Common Sense tells me that I am looking for the "Standard Magazine Release with Oversize Button" simply because a larger diameter button places the back edge a little closer to me.

I was thinking more of al elongated button, longer front to back, is there such a beast?

Oversized mag release buttons are specifically prohibited in IDPA. A little longer is ok, like an Ed Brown or Chip McCormick "tactical" type but if it has an oversized button, no-go.
I am scared of empty guns and keep mine loaded at all times. The family knows the guns are loaded and treats them with respect. Loaded guns cause few accidents; empty guns kill people every year. -Elmer Keith. 1961

I gotcha, I will go with the extended or "a little bit longer version then" :-)
