Camelback Goblin

Well, got one coming in the mail for my B-Day. Looked them up online and they seem pretty handy. Anyone comments?

I have the model called a MULE rather than the Goblin, but you will find a Camelbak to be of great use in the hotter months..everything from bike riding, mowing the lawn, motorcycle trips, hunting, hiking, air shows ect.
I often take it on vacation as it holds incidentals like a camera, snacks,
and maps/tour guide books.....in germany for example drinking fountains
are non exsistant even at roadside parks, so unless you are near a Imbess everytime you are thirsty (and have a pocket full of euros) you are "s.o.l." so on day trips I really got used to packing my own. Camelbak really paid for its self.

I use the optional mylar thermal sleeve with mine and its great to have ice water
whenever you need it, it can keep you from dehydrating/ getting sick when there isnt a drinking fountain for miles, or only availible to you @ $3.00 a small bottle standing in a concession line for 20 minutes.

There is a reason that the military has gone to issuing camelbaks
in great numbers..they are practical and work, and hold alot more than a leaky plastic canteen.

you should find many uses for your Bday preasent :) by the way I used to live by the camelbak factory when it was located in Weatherford Texas
by exit 406, big building on the south side of the highway....you could walk right in and buy direct.

I wear mine everytime I do the yard. I am just not one to stop and take water breaks, and I used to get very dehydrated.

My neighbors all laugh at me; I wear a portable radio on my belt with earphones, sunglasses, a jungle hat and the Camelpack. What they don't see is the Beretta .380 on the shorts.

I also use it at shooting schools in the warmer months.

I would like to advise against wearing headphones when outdoors or in an insecure environment. It takes away from your situational awareness.

Technically, these are the original "camelbacks":

I found the "Goblin" model on there. Very cool!!! A hydration fanny pack with a concealed holster. I love it!
I found it under the "Military->Hydration Packs->Concealed Weapons" link.
Its done in flash, so I can't grab the pic or the url for its own page, but I'm sure others can find it elsewhere.

But there are many other brands and manufacturers.

I find the opposite to be true. I always wear hearing protection when using outdoor power tools (mower, weedeater, especially chainsaw). If I don't wear my muffs, I find that I "wall up" and withdraw as a psychological response to the noise. With the muffs, I keep my head up and look around, within the limits of safely using such tools.

If you were speaking of listening to music with earphones, then I agree it's a bad idea. I never did that, even when I was running 30-40 miles a week back in my "yute".

Using hearing protection all these years means that even though I'll turn 44 in three weeks, I can still hear this:

Folks over the age of 25 aren't supposed to be able to hear such high pitches. I don't think I'm a statistical anomaly, I'm just someone who cherishes music, and I've protected my ears accordingly.

I'm 60 and have shot and worked in noisy environments all my life, I can hear it!
