Odds are the average LEO responding will have never been in a gun fight, and the adrenalin level will be high. So the chances of "see gun shoot" will be high. At least IMO. Blue on blue shooting has bothered me since retirement. In my S2K bag I have over sized black Tee shirt with "POLICE" front back and on each sleeve. They are bulky.

I've recently made a sash out of 3" outdoor Navy Blue ribbon, Velcro and some ironed on letters that spell "RET POLICE' front and back. This rolls up into a 3"x3" package. Will it be enough? I don't know, but it beats nothing.

I know this doesn't help non-LEO's, but maybe you can come up with something similar. Maybe "INNOCENT BY-STANDER" (sorry I couldn't help myself)

I've had to promise my wife and Oncologist that I wouldn't "run to the sound of gunfire" any more. But that doesn't mean I will lay down and be a victim. Our plan is to make a covered retreat to safety, and take as many innocents with us as we can. Hopefully that will be to an exit, but if that means barricading our-selfs into a safe area so be it.

I understand about plans and the first shot, But that is what I have now. I'm still willing to learn.
