Senators Bicker Over Stand Your Ground Laws

So called "Stand Your Ground Laws" are currently under discussion in Washington with Trayvon Martin's mother leading the charge...

Once again, someone testifying who is emotionally invested in the subject, but is far from a subject matter expert....

This would make sense only if it was an issue. It is really hard to believe that people think Stand Your Ground had something to do with the shooting in Florida.

What's even harder to believe is that so many people think you have to give up before you can defend yourself. God in heaven, how do such people come to be called "Americans?"

Stand Your Ground is what started the revolution. Push came to shove, and the colonists shoved back. That is classic Stand Your Ground. The Treyvon Martin apologists would have you retreat from Boston to San Francisco, with your back to the sea, before you could ever defend yourself.

My interpretation of that statement is that she believes Zimmerman was the agressor and attacked Martin. Therefore Martin under stand your ground was defending himself and in the right. Hmmm, need to think on that.

I watched this mess on satellite this morning. My take:
The President of the Prosecuting Attys Assoc. = Out of touch with reality dork. ALL law enforcement is NOT against Stand your ground.
The "Law Professor" = a black guy trying his best to not make it all sound like the race card was being played.
Dick Durbin = same old same old. I can't believe Chuck Shumer didn't make some kind of appearance.
Ted Cruz = the voice of reason and points eloquently stated.
Lindsey Graham = well meaning, but the delivery of a buffoon.

What good came from this rehashing of a settled court case and "stand your ground"?
I'll tell you. I had a man working at my house this morning. We were both listening to the
inane chatter from the TV, when, he turned, and without being prompted, quietly
stated "I am a CHL carrier". I just grinned and said "join the club". It led to an in depth
conversation of like minds. Very enjoyable morning.

I sometimes feel its like talking to a brick wall, but still: "The powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the States, are reserved to the States respectively, or to the people." As enumerated in the Tenth Amendment in the Bill Of Rights.

I think you're wrong about that....they'd say there was no excuse for using violence, since you could have easily entered the water and either swam or drifted away. And if the BG couldn't swim, you'd be safe, without having to resort to violence. But even if there was some good reason you couldn't escape in the water, you could still have stuck your finger down your throat and made yourself thrown up on your attacker, or maybe told him you have a cold and would breath on him.

I'm worried about this. To me it looks like the Obama administration
wants us to lose our hard won rights for self defense. If we are
scared to use our guns then we will stop carrying
