OK... it is getting real...
Today at work... it was announced via e-mail that a former 'disgruntled' employee of the company we share a 2 story building with (the boudaries of the tenants are 'fuzzy' at best) had called in and said he was in a western state... that he was on his way east.. and that since he was going thru Houston anyway he intended to stop by and shoot some of that company's employees...
My employer has a policy that prohibits 'unauthorized' weapons on the 'premises'...
Yes... I would have a loaded AK at my desk if I could... but that is not going to happen...
All John Wayne bull bravado aside... what would you do???

With advance notice, I would think both companies would have time to prepare with extra security and LEO's. If possible, have a secure area the employees could retreat to if an adequate means of notification exists, i.e. intercom, public address.
If you feel that adequate preparations aren't being taken, then by all means, stay home.
I'm just too stubborn for that to be my first option.

Ensure that the proper law enforcement agencies are notified.
Ask your employer this: "Since you are prohibiting me from protecting myself with my own legal, licensed firearm, what are you doing to reduce your liability should I be the one killed by this madman that you had foreknowledge of?"
I like work from home as well. If not allowed, you look like you're coming down with something.

Well, then, how could this guy possibly shoot anyone? Your employer prohibits it!sailor2000 wrote:My employer has a policy that prohibits 'unauthorized' weapons on the 'premises'...
Seriously, I am with the others here. If your employer won't take the steps necessary to protect you, and won't allow you to protect yourselves, then I predict a mysterious flu epidemic coming on.

Do you want the CHL instructor answer or the "adult decision" answer?
When you take the time out of your day to beat someone, it has a much longer lasting effect on their demeanor than simply shooting or tazing them.

For me, those are one and the same.
If you have a CHL, and your office doesn't prohibit it, I'd say carry. Again, personal choice.
I don't like putting my security into the hands of others.
Of course the easiest, and maybe better, option is indeed to stay home.

Time to use up my vacation days.
Please help the wounded store owner who fought off 3 robbers. He doesn't have medical insurance.

Yup,
That to ought to pretty much cover it!
