HPD officer wounds armed robbery suspect

A Houston police officer shot and wounded a man suspected of robbing a McDonald's in northwest Harris County on Thursday night.

According to a preliminary investigation, the officer was having dinner with his son in a shopping center in the 13300 block of Jones about 10 p.m. when someone told him a McDonald's was being robbed, said Johanna Abad, spokeswoman for the Houston Police Department.

"The officer came out of the restaurant and saw the guy running in the parking lot with a weapon," Abad said. She said the officer shouted at the man to stop, but instead the man pointed his gun at the officer, who opened fire.

The wounded man was taken to Ben Taub hospital, but his injuries are not thought to be life-threatening, Abad said. He could face charges of aggravated robbery, she said.

The investigation is ongoing, she said.
Nice shot. One less BG running the streets. I'm curious if the officer was in uniform or not.

Seems to be a lot of this going around these days...

http://www.click2houston.com/news/13258767/detail.html

The other networks have excellent security camera footage of these suspects...

One showed one of them wielding a shotgun (up at the ready, panning the checkout area)...

Put yourself in that area...How fast, and how right would you be in that situation???

Don't answer that unless you really want to...I'm instigating a forum personal "gut-check"...We all know the rules, the law...Where our own line is drawn...

Just thought it was a good time to throw this into the mix...
