Ignoring the 51 precent law may have saved 2 lives

Post by rp_photo »

The victim would have violated the 51 percent law had he gone inside, but otherwise he and his wife might have been killed by regulation that criminals ignore anyway:

And luckily, the victim didn't actually violate the law since he hadn't entered the building yet.

Came here to post this story.

It's not clear if he was CHL or not and the story doesn't say whether he was at his car where he wouldn't need a CHL.

Also, 51% only applies to us CHLrs. It's already illegal for others to carry handguns.

How was the 51% law ignored? The intended victim was in his car (where possession of a handgun is not prohibited) in the parking lot (where possession of a handgun is also not prohibited) before going into the bar.
Police say a man and his wife had pulled into a parking lot to go into the bar when they were confronted by the suspect who was armed with a pistol.

It's not clear whether he was in his car. For all we know he could have been yards away from his car on the way into the bar. If that's the case and he did not have a chl, he may have some legal problems...

You're right in that 51% plays no part of this story.

The article is vague. I'm sure more will come out like if the victim was in his car, carrying on his person, had a chl, and all sorts of good stuff that this story lacks.

2nd article states they do not believe charges will be filed.

If he was a CHL there is little to worry about. If he was carrying under MPA and in his car there is little to worry about. If it was a righteous shooting there is little to worry about than a possible UCW charge.
