Another group fight downtown Austin

Post by texanjoker »

Seems like the group fights are becoming all too common. Here is another this weekend in downtown Austin. I avoid large crowds, but people should be able to go downtown without fear of being caught up in this mess. Especially when it is common place for the looser to pull out or go get a gun..... Good job to the leo's for taking care of business. I think they need to find a way to recharge the tasers with solar power. That way they can continue to keep Austin weird & be green while fighting crime :biggrinjester:

Very scary. The video quality is very poor so it's hard to see many details.

It appears that the LEOs did a good job and arrested a couple of people.

I don't know what started the fight, but I would bet it's a stupid reason.

Events such as this is one reason I avoid large crowds.

Fortunately, it doesn't look like any of them actually know how to fight.

:iagree: thankfully most people don't know how fight effectively. they have a more spray and pray mentality when it comes to throwing punches and other strikes. they don't know anything about timing other than a cowardly sucker punch or ambushing. they also use either fear or hatred to motivate them. doing so usually leaves BIG weak spots and dyer consequences. :boxing

Strange. Sixth street used to be the reserve for college kids. The worst you worried about were drunken frat boys passing out. Those didn't look like drunken frat boys.

Just another good reason to stay out of Austin. It's a shame that Austin has turned into such an undesirable place (for me anyway). It used to be a really great place, but not anymore.

Just another example of how liberals manage to destroy everything they touch.

I dunno that it's just Austin. Anywhere that there are drunks and large amounts of people, dumb things happen.

Maybe, but I've been on 6th street many times over the years when it was full of drunks and large amounts of people and I never saw a fight like that or felt threatened.

I avoid these places and events like the plague. Recently someone told me that in doing so I was letting tem win and that I should not let them keep me away from having a "good time".

I don't consider these events a good time. My wife and I can find plenty to do to have a good time without exposing ourselves to thuggery. Is that a word?

Absolutely, the fights, the obnoxious drunks, the event that featured someone puking on someone else, the tragedy of a vehicle plowing into the crowd, etc. I fail to relate this behavior to a "good time". But that's just me. Others mileage may vary.

For me it's not really a matter of "having fun," but as a photographer, a particular interest in the "street" and "night" photography genres.
