I'd always said IL would have no problems unless the citizens there are stupider or more violent that the other 48 states.

As someone who has had deadbeat tenants before, I can understand his frustration. The legal system protects deadbeat tenants a lot more than it does the property owner. If I was on the jury, I would not vote to convict since he was on property that he owned and the other person is a thief (theft of services is still a thief in my book).

Oh, an by the way, never rent a property to someone who *claims* that their family was from Romania -- it's just another way of saying that they are gypsies. The police don't care about investigating or prosecuting these types of scammers either.

I was in Chicago last week and noticed the "circle slash/Beretta" sign (ie - NO GUNS said without using words). Chatted the bartender up about it while I was waiting for my table....he says "yeah, if it's concealed no one is going to know..."

Wonder if/when we will get reciprocity, I'm in Chicago/The Burbs quite a bit.

Did a little reading on IL Concealed carry, seems the sign I saw was the "official" don't carry here sign. Also saw where a non-resident can apply ($300 for 5 years vs $150 for 5 years if you are a resident), something to consider especially as much as I travel there.

Requirements for Concealed Carry Signage
Owners of any statutorily prohibited area or private property, excluding residences, where the owner prohibits the carrying of firearms must clearly and conspicuously post the Illinois State Police approved sign, in accordance with Firearm Concealed Carry Act, at the entrance of the building, premises or real property. Please refer to Section 65 (Prohibited Areas) of the Firearm Concealed Carry Act for more information on statutory requirements for signage as well as where concealed weapons are prohibited.

Pursuant to Section 65(d) of the Firearm Concealed Carry Act, signs must be of a uniform design and the Illinois State Police is responsible for adopting rules for standardized signs. The Illinois State Police has proposed rules which require a white background; no text (except the reference to the Illinois Code 430 ILCS 66/1) or marking within the one-inch area surrounding the graphic design; a depiction of a handgun in black ink with a circle around and diagonal slash across the firearm in red ink; and that the circle be 4 inches in diameter. The sign in its entirety will measure 4 inches x 6 inches.

I thought about getting an IL non-resident also, as my daughter lives in a north Chicago suburb and we are there a lot. But if you read the restrictions, you can't go anywhere almost, except your vehicle and your own property, or walk the streets.
