New AR Born

Post by Iunnrais »

Finally got to take my newly built AR out to the range over the weekend and stretched it's legs out. Mostly happy except that I've gotten to the root of a gas problem that showed up when I test fired it a week earlier. It's not a matter of adjustment of the gas block, but replacing the yhm 9383 block with one that expects a gap for the hand guard cap. The barrel port is setup to take a normal block snugged up against the shoulder. So with the 9383 also setup to correct for the gap, the ports will never align. Wasn't thinking about that when I ordered the block. :banghead: Functions splendidly as a bolt gun though. Oh well, I needed to order a couple other things from Midway anyhow. The 9383 can go into the parts box for a future build.

Aero Precision Upper & Lower
Rock River LPK with 2 Stage NM trigger
DS NP3 M16 BCG
Carbine Buffer
ARP 6.8 20" barrel and 6.8 Superbolt
PRI QC Brake
Head Down 13" Key Mod rail

Got it sighted in at the 50yd range

Then moved out to the 100 yard range. The last group of the day was one of the best I've ever shot.
