Kimber ?

Post by TraCoun »

I'm thinking about possibly getting a Kimber in .38 Super. Anyone have any comments on Kimbers in general or their .38 Supers? I heard a few years ago that Kimber's quality control had taken a nose-dive. Have they recovered?

Thanx,

Kimber switched to external extractors a few years ago, but quickly went back.

I have 2 that are bullet proof (pardon the expression)

I have one that is great. It has an internal extractor. The external extractors didn't work real well.

I have a Kimber Ultra Carry II Stainless. I love it. I haven't had any problems and have shot about 1500 rounds out of it.

I can't comment about the .38 Super platform, but like TXI, I'm happy with mine. The little short-barrel Ultra I shot in calss last week had only about 200 rounds through it before the class, and it continues to function flawlessly; not a single glitch yet.

My go-to handgun is the Kimber Super Match I bought late last year. I'll probably shoot it next Saturday, but will bring both and you can throw a few downrange if you want.

 Good luck in your search...... I know exactly why you want one!

My Father has an old Star .38 Super that has proven to be an excellent and reliable gun. I took my first CHL test with it in '96. I realize that Star likely made a million pieces of junk for every good pistol that came out of their factory (I have a 9mm that supports my theory...junk).

I have nothing but good results out of my Kimber Pro Carry HD that is chambered in .38 Super. It's very accurate and very low recoil.
My posts on this website are worth every cent you paid me for them.
