Sometimes cats are pretty awesome

Post by SQLGeek »

I just saw this on Facebook, evidently it happened yesterday. Not all cats are horrible.

Edited to add: My apologies for the original oversight but there are some what graphic pictures of the wounds on the boys leg at the end of the video.

I saw this today as well. I don't think either of the cats we paid for, allow to live in our house, feed twice a day, clean a litterbox for, and regularly take to the vet would raise a paw in defense of our children. On the other hand, we have a little stray cat who moved into our backyard and befriended the kids. After a year or so we decided she wasn't going away so we started feeding her and we took her to the vet for the basics (vaccinations and making sure she doesn't repay our kindness with a gift of kittens). If any of the kids are outside she's usually just inches away following them around and watching whatever they're doing. She even hangs out with the 2-year-old. She weighs a whopping 6 lbs. to our other cats' 10-12 lbs., but if any of them was going to try to protect the kids my money would be on her. She also eats snakes, large bugs, birds, and probably rodents. I'm a fan.

Whoa, did the lady leave the kid there or was she chasing the dog away?

I'm still not getting a cat though.

Reading some of the comments in the article, the dog started coming back and she actually got nipped on the hand while trying to get it away.

Given the horrific wounds on that little guy that dog needs to be put down - no waiting.

Cool cat! That kitty meant business! Glad the little fellow is okay. Whoever owns the dog needs to have their ears boxed.

I admit that I am a cat person. Please don't hold it against me folks.

I have had some cats that are smarter than any dog I have every met (and some humans...) and some that are dumber than a box of rocks. Currently we have two boxes of rocks, but they are lovable. I've posted about the 2 Toms we had before and I can see one of them doing something like this.

Awesome feline family member!

That is hilarious and so true! I too have a couple boxes of rocks, no way they'd do this. They wouldn't want to put in the effort to run out of the house. I don't think my lazy butt dogs would either tho, so they aren't alone, lol. Amazing video, really surprised to see a cat do that.

Aww, great video!!!! I love all animals, but I'm definitely a cat person (if you can't tell). People often misunderstand cats. They are actually very intelligent and loyal creatures when treated properly. There was one time that we started a fire in the fireplace and forgot to open the flue. Needless to say, the downstairs filled up with smoke. My beloved kitty companion ran to the top of the stairs and hollered for me to follow. Once I got up into the smoke free bedroom, he calmed down and checked me out to be sure I was ok!!

I hope this kitty got a nice tuna dinner for saving his little friend. :thumbs2:
