One man had a big rifle. The guns were also Semi-Automatic.

This is near Wilson Road and the nearby Walmart Super Center on the Sam Houston Tollway.

I'd rather not pull my gun against 5 armed assailants but I have a question, what if they discover you are carrying a gun, do you give you gun up? Ponder, ponder... :confused5

I worked with a guy in SO CAL. He was eating dinner with his family when a take down robbery went down at a Mexican restaurant. Two robbers, one had a AK and the other a handgun. They went table to table robbing the customers because they were not happy with the cash register. He had a glock 22 in his fanny pack. He choose to not act. They asked what was in the fanny pack and he said gun. They proned him out in front of his family and took the fanny pack. He thought he was going to die, but they didn't shoot him. Not sure what I would do but in talking to him he didn't want rounds sent towards his family and he survived so it worked.

This is very near my house.

Way too close for comfort.

Wow. Tough choice. Glad it all worked out for him. I can understand not wanting the family to be in the line of potential incoming fire.

It'd be tough to choose between fighting or giving up my gun to the bad guy...they may very likely execute us anyway...it pays to pay attention and prepare to run like we're on fire.

That's a very good question and the consequences of being found armed could be deadly. An inexperienced 5 man crew is significant and it also means you could well be facing a mob mentality factor with twitchy hijackers. (Experienced crews wouldn't be hitting a Denny's.)

In that situation, you have two choices: 1) do nothing and hope they don't discover your gun or kill you if they do; or 2) pick the best time and fight. It's a very tough call with 5 BGs but I'm not big on letting armed hijackers decide when I meet Jesus in person.

I bet their attentions would be divided enough to start out the gunfight with better odds.

Hope you guys carry reloads.

I think the best thing in this situation would to become very small.

Like Mr. Cotton said when the rubber meets the road I don't think I will let the BG's make the final decision.

One thing about this that bothers me is the statement made by an LEO rep that showing the surveillance video would be useless because their faces were covered. Why not just show it in hopes that someone might recognize a shirt or some other article of clothing or something else that may lead to a suspect. Unless the video literally didn't show any of the suspects at all, then I would definitely release it to the public.

IMO, a few things might happen if you open fire. One, they might all go military and take you down together. Two, they might just drop and run and like hell. Three, they will run while shooting back at you. I find the first option highly highly unlikely for small time robbers. If they were that organized and serious, they would have been smarter and picked a better target than a resturant.

For me, unless I had a gun in my face, I think I would have quietly drawn my gun whether I deployed it or not after seeing something like that happening close by. It is a very bad scenario and something that is likely to be unpredictable. To me, it falls partially into the category of "If you aren't willing to use it, don't carry it". Nothing worse to me that having the gun, being unwilling to use it, and having it taken away.

I am trying not to sound like some gung ho hero. I am unmarried with no kids so maybe I am seeing it different.

It is getting to the point where eating at fast food restaurants and Denny's type restaurants just are not worth it.

I'm thinking the same thing and I LOVE to have breakfast at night.
