Question about a new CHL application
I was on the DPS site pre-filling some of the information on the CHL application. Everything was fine until I got to the criminal history part. I don't think any of my past "youthful learning situations" disqualify me, but I may not remember precisely when they happened. Which brings me to the question, I want to be as honest as I can on the application, but what if I don't remember exactly when something happened? I might* get the year correct, but as far as month and day? I just don't remember.
Thanks in advance.
Todd.

Re: Question about a new CHL application
Welcome to the forum Todd. Hopefully you can remember where your "youthful learning situations" occurred. Contact the county clerk and request a records search and criminal background check. That should be a good start to getting the correct information and dates.ronyo30 wrote:I was on the DPS site pre-filling some of the information on the CHL application. Re: Question about a new CHL application
Thank you for the reply, I'll give the city a call and see what they can do. I have never been involved with anything outside North Richland Hills (class c), would those records make it to the county level?
Re: Question about a new CHL application
It's hard to say. Some government records are archived for decades while others disappear without a trace.
Re: Question about a new CHL application
Ok, I'll just call the city in the morning. It may seem strange that I don't remember, but it is all 15+ years ago and things I have learned and moved on from. Thank you both for the replies, much appreciated.
Re: Question about a new CHL application
You can estimate on dates, don't have to be exact. They'll contact you if needing more paperwork.
Re: Question about a new CHL application
If he was arrested or charged he will have to submit paperwork. It is much better to have exact dates than to end up with conflicting information.infoman wrote:You can estimate on dates, don't have to be exact. They'll contact you if needing more paperwork.
Life is tough, but it's tougher when you're stupid.

Re: Question about a new CHL application
Well, the Tarrant County clerk has no records. The county seat Fort Worth has no records and I am waiting for the municipality to get back to me. What if nobody has records anymore? There are only three mishaps and they all happened in the 90's. Should I just put them on the application and guess at the dates, letting them know in the additional info box that I cannot find records?
Re: Question about a new CHL application
You must list the the arrests on your application. Get the date as close as possible. Obtain a letter from the court clerks office stating that no records are found and include that with your paperwork that you send in.ronyo30 wrote:Well, the Tarrant County clerk has no records. Should I get a letter from just the county or should I include the city as well? Sorry to ask so many questions, I just want to get it right.

Get one from the court you were in. If both, then get both.ronyo30 wrote:Should I get a letter from just the county or should I include the city as well? Sorry to ask so many questions, I just want to get it right.
