Told a lie

Post by Venus Pax »

There have been many threads on this board as to what to say when your questioned about that protrusion from your hip or that hard thing someone feels when they hug you.

Although I've never come out and told anyone at our new church that I carry, the pastoral staff know that I shoot as a hobby, have asked questions about CHL (which I answered), so they've put 2 & 2 together.

Last night, I went to the women's banquet. One of the ladies asked what that bulge was on my hip. I told her it was an emergency medical device. (Got that little quip from here. ;-) ) She seemed happy w/ the answer, although I could tell she doubted.

It's a bit of an awkward position to be in. I didn't really like telling her a half-truth, but I don't know her well enough to say, "oh, it's just my gun."

That is an awkward situation for sure, sounds like you handled it well though. What's meant to be concealed is still concealed. I've almost been made by my pastor once, it was a little nerve racking!

You did well. Answers like that are still better than, "None of your business." As I was giving a CHL law book to a new shooter one time, a lady in our church asked what it was. I told her it was a book on Texas Law. You did well. Sooner or later you will find someone that does not like you armed. You can't help that any more than you can help it if someone does not like you carrying your Bible.

Technically its not really a lie cause in an emergency the bad guys going to need a medical device. ;-)

Between cell phone, insulin pump, extra mags, gun, and natural buldges - I don't have that problem.

Another answer to that question is to respond with "It's my work PDA". I learned it from here, PDA = "Personal Defense Accessory"..... :)

How often does that put you in a position to use deadly force in defense of your life?

LOL I have found that with some people, the best way to make them realize how rude and inappropriate their question is, is for me to ask one just as rude back. Or sometimes I take the old Ann Landers approach and simply reply with a furrowed brow, frown and shaking of the head, "why in the world would you ask such a personal and rude question?"

I find no need to answer such questions from people.

The Bulge On My Hip

Post by tfrazier »

I have so many buldges I think people don't ask because it would take hours to explain them all. Going to run on the treadmill for a while now. Hope my ice cream doesn't fall off the console again...

Good answer!

Just imagine if we never had to conceal these things...

I bet the question might never be asked again...
