Houston Greenspoint Robbery - Popeye's Chicken

A friend at work was at Popeye's Chicken Imperial Valley Road last night and was the victim of an armed robbery.

He said that there were about 30 people who were robbed of their cash and cell phones by two armed robbers.

Maybe not enough to make the local news?

Nobody was physically hurt, but he was pretty scared.

Later, when the police came, he was told, "don't eat here" after dark.

All of the fast food restaurants in that area, except the McDonald's, has been robbed.

The Greenspoint area of Houston is known affectionately as Gunspoint.

The Greenspoint area of Houston is known affectionately as Gunspoint.

I am in that area every week for lunch, as I work nearby and there are a lot of daytime businesspeople that work in that area.

I would not dream of frequenting the area in the evening hours. Even so, although the odds are worse after dark, I am also under no illusion that lunchtime is guaranteed safety. Being armed is a nice start!

Near as I can tell never made the news. It happened the same day as the woman being shot in the back at the nail salon robbery.
