Got to the store too late to buy whatever Nike shoe is the latest thing, so pulled a gun on a guy outside the store who was able to buy a pair -- and botched the victim selection process.
His two teen buddies fled, but were caught and may face felony murder charges. CCW holder stayed on scene and not facing any charges at the moment.
Obligatory "good kid' quotes from friends and relatives.
Yes even good kids make dumb decisions, but seems unlikely to think he went from straight and narrow to armed robbery using a gun all in one jump. Will be interesting to see what falls out of this as investigation continues.

This up and coming thug in training got exactly what he needed. The revolving doors of Justice closed forever.
He probably was a good kid when he wasn't robbing people in the street. Evil humans are not evil 100% of the time but the propensity towards evil is always there. It's just a matter of time when those evil humans meet resistance and how much damage they're allowed to inflict on Society before they meet it.

They even got it right at the end of the news story, calling the CCW holder the "victim"

My question is, was the kid at least smart enough to make sure the guy he tried to rob wore the same size shoes as he did?

Re: OH: Another "good kid" killed trying to rob CCW holder
Here's what I heard from someone who "should know":
Two adults were just leaving the mall, having apparently attended a special event introducing the new shoes, and having purchased at least one pair.
Three "yutes" had tried to go to the special event, but were late, so they couldn't purchase any. They walked up to the two adults, and the dead robber pulled a gun and told the adult to hand over the shoes. The adult tossed the package of shoes into the air, and when the gun-toting gangsta yute looked up, pulled his CHL-covered gun out and shot once into the robber's chest. The victim was pretty good at keeping his cool and drawing the yutes' attention to the package in the air, in my opinion.
CHL holder has not been arrested or charged.
I figure the only mistake the CHL made was only shooting once.

You jokingly say that, but when it comes down to the GJ and appearance of self defense, one of the things that always comes out is 'Why did he shoot so many times'. In this case, the other robbers ran, so there was no threat from them. And, apparently the one shot stopped the threat, so no additional rounds were needed. This should be pretty clean unless there is something we are not hearing about.Jumping Frog wrote: I figure the only mistake the CHL made was only shooting once.

If you find yourself in a fair fight, your tactics suck.

Not to mention the rule 3 violation in a Christmastime mall parking lot.Keith B wrote:You jokingly say that, but when it comes down to the GJ and appearance of self defense, one of the things that always comes out is 'Why did he shoot so many times'. Have to agree with Keith B: if one shot was all it took, one shot was perfectly enough.

Interesting there is no mention of the race of the victim.

I read in another form that the robber was the victim in this and not the person being robbed it's funny how the news started in one direction and has turned the other way. I wish journalists would do a little research before posting something or not let their political views sway their description of what happened. I just wish the news was the news

Yep, I was joking.Keith B wrote:You jokingly say that, ....
Now there is talk that the Mall was apparently posted "no guns", with speculation whether there could be a resulting criminal trespass charge.Keith B wrote:This should be pretty clean unless there is something we are not hearing about.
For everyone visualizing a CHL walking past a "big ugly" 30.06 sign, thank God for Texas and our signage requirements!

Re: OH: Another "good kid" killed trying to rob CCW holder
When the initial story was just "one person shot at Ohio mall" and it wasn't yet known that the shootee was committing a crime, calling the shootee the "victim" was totally appropriate. Political views don't have anything to do with news organizations trying to beat other news organizations to the scoop. You report the facts as you know them at the time and make corrections if necessary.airborned wrote:I read in another form that the robber was the victim in this and not the person being robbed it's funny how the news started in one direction and has turned the other way.
