Yesterday was the first time in a long time that I had need to go to the FedEx hub at DFW airport. It appears to be fairly new and is now on the south side of Hwy. 114. Very disappointed to see legit 30.06 sign - at least "legit" with the exception of very large verbiage at top stating "Notice" and "Required by Texas Penal Code". Below is e-mail that I just sent to Ruger (closed until January 5).
"This is to give Ruger honchos a heads up of what Fed EX is doing to Texas Concealed Handgun License holders at the hub at 5000 Hanson Drive in Irving TX - where I was sent with prepaid shipping label for repair return of a new LC9s. FedEx has a legitimate 30.06 at the entrance - a sign that, technically, makes it illegal for license holders (but not others) to take a pistol inside the front door. Please have a Ruger Vice President contact me about this."

Actually, it is not illegal to take a pistol in the door with a 30.06, you just can't carry concealed under authority of Subchapter H, Chapter 411, Government code, past the sign. So, if the pistol is boxed and ready for shipping, you are not carrying it under authority of your CHL. You will have to disarm before entering, but you can take one in for shipping if not carrying concealed.Greybeard wrote:Yesterday was the first time in a long time that I had need to go to the FedEx hub at DFW airport. Re: "Required" 30.06 sign at FedEx hub in Irving
Good to know, Keith, but I certainly don't need to be the test case. When I got to the door with box in hand, I went back to truck and stashed carry gun, then headed back toward door with box in hand. Then decided maybe just leave all in truck and go inside naked for "effective consent". And chance to politely rant a bit.
As suspected, he said, as long as in a package, I would be ok. I let the old gentleman know that most of us just refused to do business with anyone who had the sign, but that is where Ruger had directed me. He said they "had to do it". I asked why they "had to do it". He pointed at the box that Ruger was in and said "Because we have expensive items like this in here and don't want to get robbed."
Reply: "And just who do your people thin THAT sign is going to stop?" Him: "I know, I know, but that's their thing ...".
