convicted felon firearm ownership
Hello guys, I have a question. A fríend of mine who was convicted to 5 years in federal prison for selling industrial strenngth type amonia (he owns a janitorial supply company). that happened about 22 years ago, and don't have any other offenses after that. He wants to purchase a shotgun to keep it at his home to protect his family, is he allowed by law to do that?.
Re: convicted felon firearm ownership
IANAL but Texas law says you can have a weapon in your home after 5 years from release from ant parole, probation, etc and final disposition of the case.
However, federal law says no.

He needs to consult with a lawyer on his particular status. Some times after a conviction the person has tehir right to won firearms restored, sometimes no. There is not a real clear line as to who does and who doesn't.
