Does anyone else name their guns?
My wife named her pistol Josephine . It was suggested on another forum that it might be interesting to see if anyone else names their guns.

The world is a dangerous place to live....not because of the people who are evil, but because of the people who don't do anything about it!

Depends on the gun....texaseyes wrote:My wife named her pistol Josephine . It was suggested on another forum that it might be interesting to see if anyone else names their guns.
The one(s) I carry frequently get named. My primary carry is either Justin or Jubal (.45 and 9mm respectively), and my backup will be either Stormy or The Mouse (.380 and .32).
And while not intended as a regular carry piece, my "family" was just increased by the addition of "The Black Sheep" (long story made short - it's a pistol I wouldn't normally have chosen for myself, but it was the answer to a "fleece" I laid out in prayer.... so the name was inevitable).
None of the long guns are named... yet.

All guns have at least two safeties. One's digital, one's cognitive. In other words - keep the digit off the trigger until ready to fire, and THINK. Some guns also have mechanical safeties on top of those. But if the first two don't work, the mechanical ones aren't guaranteed. - me

I've actually been mulling this over for a few months, actually.
The PA-63 is small, sassy, and a little snappy. I'm considering calling her Punky (as in Brewster) or Angela, after a character in a webcomic I used to read (http://www.queenofwands.net). I think I'm leaning towards Angela.
I've only had the Hi-Power for about a month, so haven't narrowed it down so much. She's dark, understated yet sexy, and no-nonsense. I'm considering Dora, after a character in another webcomic I read - http://www.quesionablecontent.net. Coincidentally, Dora's last name is Bianchi.
I have a much easier time naming my computers than I do my guns.

My wife calls my carry piece "Clarice" mostly because I don't want her asking me, "DO YOU HAVE YOUR GUN" in public. "Do you have Clarice" goes over much better for nosy people overhearing.

I'm considering additional suggestions for the new Marlin 1895...I haven't decided yet...
Some of the early mentions are:
"Ban This!"
"Walker Texas Ranger"
"Ouch, that kicked!"
"Puddin'"
The winner will be etched/stamped into the stock, and proudly displayed at the next PSC Day...

I guess in my family it is a 'girl' thing. They name nearly everything.
My '84 F150 is Candycane
Our old silver LTD was SilverBullet
Sis-in-law's S10 is Oscar
Daughter's S10 is Big Dude (after her grandfather)
One daughter's KP95DC Ruger is Roger
Another daughter's Glock 17 is Glenda
Sis-in-law's FN High Power is Fannie
My EG Makarov was named Black Mamba by the wife.
Somehow my Glock 30, shotguns, Mini-14 and others haven't been named.
I have no idea about all this, I'm just along for the ride. Dont even ask about the animals or relatives. I cannot keep up.

Ha-ha. Same here. My wife will ask every once in a while, "Do you have Rachel with you?" in public.nitrogen wrote:My wife calls my carry piece "Clarice" mostly because I don't want her asking me, "DO YOU HAVE YOUR GUN" in public. I like the name and it happens to have also been John Browning's wife's name.
