I just ordered a Streamlight tlr 4 HL for my Glock 19. My 19 is my daily carry gun as well as my home defense gun (I lock it in the safe next to the bed at night - kids in the house). For those of you who also use a mounted light on your home defense gun, do you also use it as your daily carry? If so, do you carry with the light mounted all the time or take it off & put it back on daily?
I lean towards the on/off approach, but wonder if it will be a pain in the rear. It might just make more sense to pick up 17 to keep it mounted to full time as an home defense weapon and just use the 19 as a carry gun only (along with the new 43 from time to time).
Thanks,

Re: Mounted light question
I did at one time carry a mounted light with me on a little belt holster just for the light. I figured if I needed it I'd attach it, but that didn't seem practical after a while. I began carrying a little flashlight that is just as or more powerful than the mounted light and have more flexibility with it for EDC applications when out in public.
I still keep mounted lights on both my handgun and rifle next to my bed.

I keep a Glock 21SF with a Streamlight TLR-1 in my nightstand. I alternate between several different weapons for my daily carry, but the Glock stays in my nightstand with the weapon light attached.
Re: Mounted light question
I keep my G19 with a TLR-1 mounted to it all of the time, with rare exceptions. I'll carry it in the winter in a Safariland belt holster w/ retention.FloMoAggie wrote:I just ordered a Streamlight tlr 4 HL for my Glock 19. I have a G26 to carry without a light during the day in the summer and an extra mag or two for a 17 or 19.
The HL lights are really too powerful for mounting on a handgun, as you will lose your vision if you light it up in anything but an open field.

Railed LED on HD bedside pistol + LED Flash; LED belt clip flash for CCW separate from gun on occasion.
