Newb and Quick Question.

Post by glen1978 »

Good to find this site as I have a question and by the looks of things I shouldnt have a problem getting a quick answer. Please and thank you.

I just filled out my app last week, got my prints done on Friday. I was able to log onto the county where I used to live to get my criminal history but have one question. It says on that part of the app that I need to provide a certified dispostion on all charging instruments.....blah, blah, blah. I put exact dates and how they were disposed best I could tell from the site and what I remember. I didnt hide anything. It was all from 1996 and 1999. Reckless damage in 96 and UCW that was dropped to a disorderly and criminal trespass within two weeks in 99. All plenty old enuff to not have an issue with as far as I can tell. Anyways on the checklist it doesnt say anything about sending a certified copy of anything in other than the form that I will receive after my CHL class. Can yall shed some light on this for me? thanks again!

Welcome to the forum.

You will need to get an official copy of the disposition from the court clerk where the arrests and cases occurred. These will need to be sent in with your paperwork for your application.

Ok so I have done my app online, paid my money and my fingerprints are done. I plan to take my course next month. Will my app just "set there" in Austin while I get my paper work together or what?

Until you either mail or electronically send in your documentation, your application will stay on file for one year. Once all documentation is received, they will start processing.

I was under the impression that they would start background check after I paid the money and they got the elec prints. I will call the county tomorrow and see what they can send me..

The wife did exactly what you did - listed the dates for an incident outside of the time frame. She went online for the info and listed the case number and disposition listed on the county's records on her application. No supporting documentation was sent for it.

Her CHL arrived in about 6 weeks with no issues.

Your mileage may vary, of course.

Well I called the county office and they said they could send what I need. I would have to send them a written request and $5 bucks and they would send it back to me the same day or next.
