I am unaware of car burglaries during the NRA national convention in Houston a few years back near the same location downtown.

I know if I was going to go to a concert in a big city, park in a remote location and leave my car for a few hours, or even just the mall, I'd want to have my laptop in the car just like the people in the story.

Jerry-World does the same thing. I can put on a nice spread for my friends, smoke some meat, drink a few cold ones and watch the game on the big screen for less than it costs to park. Sad.
