WTT: Springfield XD9 Tactical 5" Package

Post by age_ranger »

Well, I just recently got my XD9 back from Canyon Creek Custom. Had a trigger job, extended mag release, Dawson front fiber optic sight and trigger job done. The overtravel and reset were adjusted and the trigger pull set to 4# adn smoothed. It's a phenominal shooter and today I ran about 40 rounds through it with no malfunctions whatsoever. I really want to love this gun, but it just doesn't fit my big hands. To me, it's more of a one handed gun because I can't find room for my support hand.

Package includes the XD9 Tactical 5" model, XD Gear, receipts for custom work and 2 - 16 round mags. Warranty card is new like everything else......I got it, sent it to Canyon Creek, fired 40 rounds today and it's now back in the box. It's got everything you need to start up IDPA (in ESP division) but having another mag would be a good idea. OTher than that, I can say it's extremely accurate and the trigger is awesome.

Looking for a trade for a Beretta EII, Elite, E1A, 92G, PX4G (w night sights) Must be 9mm I'm also considering a 1911 or M&P but it'd have to be a 9mm for that to happen. Will also consider other offers...........please message me through the board for fastest responses.

Folks, I've handled this gun and it is better than perfect. If you want an XD, this is THE ONE to get.

Grip tape is form TruGripUSA also installed by Canyon Creek Custom. (paperwork included) The grip material can be removed easily but stays in place until removed. I use 3M grip tape on my Beretta PX4 and this stuff is better than that. Really gives a solid grip feel to it.

So, Age...we're no longer twins. Sigh.

I have almost the identical pistol--a Canyon Creek Custom job--only mine has a BoMar adjustable rear sight,...and I didn't win the gun at the Texas State IDPA Championship, I had to get mine the old fashioned way.

Just to add, Canyon Creek Custom is owned by Rich Dettelhouser, a verteran Grand Master USPSA shooter, and he absolutely stands by all of his work for the life of the gun. This pistol will make somebody very happy.

Alas, Skiprr, I tried hard to make it work for me. It's a great shooter and I had thought of giving it to the wife, but I'm going to get something for me this time. I thought about the BoMar but passed since I hardly look at the rear sight much when shooting unless I'm really taking my time at long shots. Rich was great to work with. His work definitely speaks for itself.

Thanks. I was considering something like that for my P97, but they don't sell the pre-cut version for it.

Guess I'll go with stair or skateboard tape.

age_ranger,

Thanks. I can't wait to try out the new addition. It was a pleasure doing business with you again.

Had to pass on a great deal to ScubaSigGuy. I hope he gets alot of great use out of it, as it's a truly great setup. Hopefully that front sight works out!! Excellent guy to deal with as well. Always helps to deal with fellow CHL holders  Transactions are simply worry free.

ScubaSigGuy, my new twin!

That front sight is a Dawson. You may want to contact Rich at Canyon Creek Custom to confirm the fiber size in case you need to replace it.

Congrats!

 I put 100 rds down range today and you were right on when you said that it was accurate. It sure has a great feel to it, at least for my hands. That trigger is awesome. Unfortunatley I don't have a holster for it, so until I order one, you guys at the top of the scoresheet are safe.
