Trigger Modification?
I went and tried a CZ-97 at Gander mtn today, my hand fit the grip well but the trigger was about 1/4-1/2" too far forwards for my finger to comfortably touch. can a trigger be modified to correct for this, and if so, what are the side effects/drawbacks? how much would it cost?

Your findings are part of the very reason there are so many different pistols on the market. It might be worth looking at other pistols...May be even other CZ offerings if your are not married to .45ACP.
Assuming the CZ-97 is the only gun for you (that's hard to believe) modification of the trigger is a possibility. Anything is possible...It's all a matter of time and money. Now for the problems with modification. Off hand, I know of no shortened trigger offered for CZ97 as its not all that common. Chances are, if this is a new pistol, a custom fabricated trigger will void the warranty.
A custom trigger could potentially be fabricated by a competent gunsmith if the factory does not offer it. Count on a shop rate of anywhere from $45/hr to $95/hr for custom fabrication. So your primary drawback of this mod is cost but I can't tell you what that might be. If the gunsmith knows the CZ well enough, functionality may not be a major issue. The only guy I know locally who probably knows the CZ well enough to do what you want is Teddy Jacobson of Stafford, Tx. That brings us back to that cost factor...Teddy ain't cheap. His time is well worth the rates he charges but he still is not cheap.

When you take the time out of your day to beat someone, it has a much longer lasting effect on their demeanor than simply shooting or tazing them.
