Olive Garden News

Post by sherlock7 »

Several weeks ago I read where the Olive Garden Restaurant in Kansas City refused service to a police officer and his family because one of their female employees saw that this officer was carrying a handgun. Not sure what planet she resides on, after all….a police officer with a gun -- go figure! At any rate she became deeply concerned that he was armed and told him he must leave.

Since this story did not sit well with me I wrote a letter to their corporate office to express my anger and to find out what their gun policy was.
The Olive Garden corporate office sent me an email stating that what happened was unacceptable and that the president of Olive Garden spoke with the police officer to personally apologize.

They further stated that their policy is to abide by all local laws regarding firearms and conceal carry regulations. Additionally I spoke with the manager of the Grapevine, Texas (Dallas/ Fort Worth area) location and he confirmed that I can carry concealed at their location. The only visible sign states only ‘UNLICENSED” handguns cannot enter their premises or something to that effect. No 30.06 signs are present.

My family and I enjoy eating at Olive Garden restaurants and we will continue to dine at their many locations as long as their policy permits concealed handgun carry! I consider this a positive step for all concealed handgun permit holders.

Good to know about their policy.

The "Unlicensed Possession" signs are required by TABC if they sell alcohol. OG does not have an option on posting those.

that is the policy of ALL Darden restaurants, managers do NOT have discretionary license to change the corporate policy, this includes several different brands olive garden being only one the others are capitol grill, longhorn steakhouse bahama breeze and a few others. Red Lobster is no longer a darden brand

Recently, all over the country, there have been a number of incidents with LEO's being harassed/refused service/or some nut-job employee screeching about the police being - OMG - armed in restaurants.

I sincerely believe the nut-jobs acting like they're having a panic attack about the police being armed is akin to someone feigning a coughing fit when they see someone else smoking.

They're not experiencing a panic attack.

They're faking.

Either they hate the police or are nut-job liberal, anti-gun fanatics with a desperate need for attention.
