NY: Maglite FTW

Town of Tonawanda Police say the incident occurred just before 11 p.m. on Tuesday when Robert M. Samson, 59, entered the store, displayed a handgun and demanded cash from the clerk.

As this was happening, a citizen with a large flashlight struck Samson several times in the head, dismantling and knocking him to the floor. The citizen acted within the law, according to police.
"Dismantled?" Didn't see any brains or skull fragments on the floor, I suspect the writer really meant "disoriented." Layers and layers of editors.

The video is not on Youtube yet, but the security cam video is at the link above.

Or maybe "disarming"?

My vote is for "dismaying" instead of dismantling. In the age of sensationalism rather than news and spell-check in lieu of actually being able to spell, we end up with some interesting and misleading reports.

Maybe the Maglite became dismantled while being used as a baton?
